A question some readers may be asking is: "How do you select different items to appear on this blog?" Being a new blog, that is an ongoing adjustment at this point. Although I read a variety of sources in different genres  (e.g, philosophy, theology, political, literary, etc.), I try and focus my links around the political, philosophical, and literary, and usually conservative and Federalist. I want to avoid too much duplication of what may be found at other sites. The Pulpit, for instance, does an excellent job of Catholic and related discussion. I am sure my selection criteria will change slightly as I refine my approach, but I do not plan to stray too far from what I have set forth here.

Beginning with this post, I have begun placing the author's name in parentheses after the blog title. Originally, I was planning to leave the name and simply put the blog. My reasoning was that the ideas were more important, and I did not want people singling out posts to avoid because of the name of an author. My reason for change is two-fold: first, I wanted to give credit where credit is due, and that means the name of the individual writing the post, rather than simply the blog, and second, I realized that with multiple posts from the same blog appearing daily, and with posts replying to earlier posts from the same blog, adding the author's last name could help to avoid confusion. The only time a last name will not appear is when a post is anonymous, "by the editors", or the like.

A New Beginning

Welcome to Sardonic Ex Curia! The purpose of this blog is simple - provide a series of daily links to intelligent conservative, Federalist, or Catholic web content. Most of it will be from true blogs, although some of it may be links to good reprints, journal articles, and other web flotsam. I am modeling this on the Catholic blog the "Pulp.It". Go check them out sometime as well!
